This eMinds CA teaches you how the applications on your iPhone are allowed to provide you with accurate location based information to reach your current location.
Enabling Location Services
Open your iPhone’s Settings app. This is a gray cog icon app, which is usually found on your home screen or in the folder labeled “utilities”.
If you are not getting the “Settings” app, swipe on your home screen and enter “Settings” in the Spotlight search bar.
Tap Privacy. You will find this option under the third group.
Tap Location Services. This will take you to a menu where you can manage your location services.
Slide the button next to the location services to the “On” status. After the service is enabled you will see a list of applications.
If this slider is disabled, location services may be disabled in the “ban” menu. See the next section for details.
Tap an app to set its location preferences. When you tap an app in the list, you will see different location service options available for the app.
Never choose to disable location services completely for apps.
Select when using the app to open and limit location services when activated.
Always choose to allow location services at all times. This is only available for select background apps, such as Weather.
Troubleshooting Location Services
Open the Settings app. If you can not enable location services, it can be disabled through the “Restrictions” menu. You can change your restrictions from the settings menu.
Select General. This is located in the third menu of settings options.
Tap restriction. If restrictions are enabled, you will be prompted for your restriction passcode.
If you can not remember your restriction passcode, try 1111 or 0000.
If you have forgotten your restriction passcode completely, then you have to reset your iOS device via iTunes to reset it. See Reinstall an iPhone for details. Be sure to back up any important data before reinstalling.
Scroll down and tap Location Settings. This will be under the “Privacy” section.
Select Allow Changes. This will enable you to turn on Location Services.
Slide the button next to the location services to the “On” status. You can find it directly under the “Change Changes” option.
