How to Create a Poll in a Discord Chat on a PC or Mac

This eMinds CA teaches you how to create a poll in Discord on your Windows or Mac computer. However, there is no official pole app or discord facility, there are some different ways to start a pole, to integrate a bot using emoji reactions that sets a pole for you.

Making a Reaction Poll

Open brawl. The Discord app icon resembles a vocal face on a purple speech bubble, which you will find in the Start Menu (Windows) or in the Applications folder (Mac). If you are logged in, then it will open your discounted account.

If you are not logged into Discord then enter your email address and password and click Login.

If you want to use the web version of Discord instead, go to https://discordapp.com/ and then click on the Purple Open Discord button.

Select a server. On the left side of the disk window, click the start of the server in which you want to create a poll.

Select a channel. To open it, click on a text channel to the left of the disk window. It should be a channel in which you want to make a poll.

If you want to create a channel specifically for the pole, next to the “Text Channel” heading, enter a name for the channel (eg, “Poll”), and click Create Channel.

Set up user permissions for the channel. Click Settings  to the right of the channel name, then do the following:

Click Permissions

Select @everyone under the “ROLE/MEMBERS” heading on the right side of the page.

Click the green ✓ to the right of the “Read Messages” heading.

Scroll down and click the red X next to every other option.

Click Save Changes.

Press Esc or click the X in the upper-right side of the window.

Create your poll question. Type the question into the channel’s text box, then press ↵ Enter. This will add the question to the server.

For example, you might ask “Which animal is better: an owl, or a raccoon?” here.

Add feedback to the question in the emojis. Hover over the question with your mouse until the smiley face icon comes next to it, click on the smiley face icon, and select a feedback emoji (eg, a thumb-up emoji for “yes”), then other reactions Add any other emoji for.

When you do, then you have at least two emoji below the question.

Tell the channel about the rules of the pole. Usually click on “[Emoji 1] to vote, yes, to vote, click on [Emoji2].”

For example, if you ask in a survey that pizza is a vegetable or not, you can say “click on the thumb to vote, yes’ or click here to vote for ‘No’ below the thumb in the emoji Please.

Allow members to respond. People in the channel can click on an emoji to add a vote, which will be reflected in the number on the right side of the emoji.

Since members are not able to post on their own, it will cut trolling or alternative emoji posting.

Defer the votes. After a certain time (or everyone has voted), this is the winning answer with the highest number of emoji.
