When someone you know requires money quickly, the only way to get it to them in a matter of seconds is to send it online. Send money online quickly and easily by using one of several payment methods. Some are completely free and digital, while others charge a fee for the delivery of actual cash. Learn how to send money online so that you can send money to a loved one quickly.

Method 1 Sending Money with PayPal

1. Determine whether PayPal meets your requirements. PayPal is one of the most established online payment platforms, with connections to a wide range of online merchants. It can be used to send money to friends and family, as well as businesses and online merchants.

You can use your bank accounts or PayPal balances for free, or you can use your PayPal Credit (for a 2.9 percent +.30 fee).

PayPal also has a mobile app that can be used to send and receive money.

To receive funds, payment recipients must have a PayPal account or create one.

2. Register for PayPal online. To begin, go to the PayPal website and click the “Sign up” button. Enter your email address and password, followed by your full legal name and address.

Read the User Agreement, Privacy Policy, and Electronic Communications Delivery Policy before proceeding.

You can also create an account by downloading the mobile app.

3. Register a bank account or credit card to confirm your identity. PayPal may take several days to confirm this information.

They will deposit two small payments into your bank account and then withdraw them via EFT.

Plan ahead of time because this confirmation process could take up to three days.

4. Use your PayPal account to send money. Go to your PayPal account and sign in. At the top right of your account summary page, click the “Pay or send money” button.

Fill in the dollar amount in the subject line of the email.

You can include a note as proof of payment for both yourself and the recipient.

To complete the payment, confirm your CVV on your debit card.

7. Keep an eye on your email for further instructions. The final screen could display a response of “Almost finished. Check your inbox for further instructions.” If this is the case, look for an email from Square and follow the instructions to finish the process.

When the payment is complete, you will be notified by email or text.

Method 3 Sending Money Using a Payment Link

1. Request a secure URL or a link to an online payment service from your payee. If you have his or her direct URL or link, such as Cash.me/$cashtag for SquareCash or PayPal.me/cashtag for PayPal, this option is useful and secure.

2. Navigate to the SquareCash URL provided by your recipient. If the payee has a SquareCash account, he or she will automatically have this URL, which you can use to quickly send money online. Check that the name on the Cash.me URL corresponds to your friend’s legal name.

3. Enter the payment amount and press the “Send” button. Simply enter your payment amount if you have an account and have signed in. You will not be required to enter any additional information.

5. Navigate to the PayPal.me link provided by your recipient. His or her legal name and profile picture should be included on this secure page. Make sure the name and photo match your friend’s description for security reasons.

6. Enter the payment amount and press the “Next” button. You must either sign in with your existing PayPal account or create one. PayPal will not allow you to send money unless your account is verified.

You can send money for free using a bank account or PayPal balance, or for a fee (2.9 percent +.30) using your debit or credit card.

7. Complete and submit your payment. To send your payment to your recipient, click the “Pay” button. Depending on his or her account settings, he or she will receive an email or a text message notification.

Sending money from your linked bank account is free, whereas sending money from your linked credit card incurs a 3% transaction fee.

Non-VENMO users will be prompted to create an account before they can receive your funds.

VENMO has a weekly limit of $299.99 for sending for personal accounts until your information has been verified. The amount you can send will then be increased to $2999.99.

2. Register for VENMO online. To begin, sign up for an account using either your Facebook login or your email address. VENMO creates a contact list for money transfers based on your Facebook friends list. You can also connect your email address book.

Enter your name, address, email, phone number, and password.

Click the “Complete Sign Up” button.

3. Use the VENMO code to verify your account. To verify your identity and phone number, the site will send you a code via text message. Enter the text message number you received and then click the “Verify Phone” button.

If you don’t have an iPhone or an Android phone, click the link to use on the web.

If you have a mobile device, you will receive an additional text message with a link to download the app.

4. To send money, click the “Pay” button. The selected button will remain depressed, so double-check that you’ve selected the correct one.

5. Enter the person’s name, email address, or phone number to whom you’re sending money. If you enter a name, the VENMO search engine will look for users in your contact list or VENMO account holders who match.

If you enter a name, double-check the image thumbnail to ensure it is the person to whom you want to send money.

You can also add friends by selecting the option in the right-hand navigation, and their names will appear first.

6. In the large message window, enter the amount next to the dollar sign. You can include a note describing the payment’s purpose so that you and your recipient can keep accurate payment records.

If you’ve linked your Facebook account, you can “Share” the payment by checking the “Share a note on Facebook” box.

To expedite future payments, add your Facebook friends to your VENMO account.

7. Before clicking the “Send” button, select “Public,” “Friends,” or “Private.” You can either share your transaction with all VENMO users or just your friends in your VENMO news feed, or you can keep it private.

Select “public” to make your transaction visible to all VENMO users in the main news feed.

Select “Friends” to only display the transaction in the feeds of your VENMO friends.

To hide the transaction from view, select “Private.”

8. Enter the details for your debit card. This option securely sends cash to your friend with no fees. Using the link at the bottom of the pop-up window, you can also enter different bank account information.

Add a bank account to use ACH withdrawals, which are also free.

You can send money using a credit card, but there will be a 3% transaction fee.

9. To complete the transaction, click “Pay.” The funds are instantly transferred to VENMO account holders, though non-users must first create an account.

Before sending a payment, double-check that all of the recipient information and amounts are correct. Payments cannot be cancelled once they have been sent by VENMO.

If you discover your error after you’ve sent the money, contact your payee and request that he or she return it to you. Include a note explaining why you’re making the request.

Method 5 Sending Money with MoneyGram

1. Determine whether MoneyGram meets your requirements. MoneyGram does not require you or your recipient to open an account, but transfers in the United States must be picked up in cash at a MoneyGram location.

Direct deposit to bank accounts or debit cards is accepted in many other countries.

You can fund your payment with either your bank account or a credit card, though each option has its own set of fees.

2. Inquire with your payment recipient about where they will pick up their funds. Because MoneyGram can only send cash to physical locations, use the website’s locations page to find the most convenient location for your friend or family member.

In the Locations Page search box, enter your address, city, or zip code.

Choose a store that is both conveniently located and has hours that work for your recipient.

3. For sending money, look into MoneyGram’s rates. On the main page, click the “Estimate Rates” link and enter the amount of money you’re sending. This will assist you in determining how much you will be charged to send the funds. To determine the rate you’ll pay, first enter the amount you’re sending, then select your payment source.

If you’re sending money overseas, keep an eye on exchange rates.

Keep in mind that if you use your credit card to send money, you may be charged a cash advance fee.
